Following a brief introduction on the historical background and evolution of Arabic calligraphy, the trainee is taught the correct rules of the various schools of calligraphy, such as Al-Roukaa and Al-Koufi. Then the trainee is introduced to botanical Arabesque and is shown new ways to be creative through the use of Islamic botanical Arabesque forms such as branches and leaves.
